I’m back! It’s been a while I know, but sometimes life just gets in a way, making it all together impossible to balance everything that’s going on. Looking back at my posts, my last Sunday Duvet Reading series was back in July (two ENTIRE months ago- how did this even happen?). Even though I am in complete denial that it is now October, I am hugely excited to crack the heating back on, snuggle up under a pile of blankets with a cup of tea, preferably English Breakfast, and get utterly lost in a good old book.
This is going to be one of my more chattier posts, so grab yourself a hot beverage and have a scroll through some of the things I’ve been loving over the past couple of months.
Since my last Sunday Duvet Reading series, my Love Island addiction has been replaced with my unfaltering love for the Great British Bake Off. I could write an entire post purely about my love for Rahul, who has no concept of how talented a baker he is (summed up in this gif), but I will save that for another day.
Heartwarming story of the week
When a natural disaster hits, there are always people who go out of their way to help. This guy rescued some dogs trapped in an outdoor cage in the nick of time, have a watch here.
Best giggle of the week
There were so many to choose from this week but it has to go to This Morning clip. Couldn’t resist including this wonderful post NTA clip from a few years back, also This Morning, which never fails to put a smile on my face.
Podcasts for that morning commute/ blitzing the housework
Podcasts are something that I have recently discovered and I cannot stop listening too. My top recommendations include Getting Curious with Jonathon Van Ness – still very much a fan of the wonderful Queer Eye team and this podcast hosted by grooming guru (and all-round beautiful human being) Jonathon, is no exception.
This is closely followed by the High Low hosted by Dolly and Pandora. Their content is brilliant- they discuss pop-culture as well as current issues. Hilarious and informative, this is a great feel-good podcast – a great pick-me-up if you’re on a long or early train journey somewhere.
I’m also really enjoying At Home With, hosted by Anna (from The Anna Edit) and Lily Pebbles. They are on their second season currently and go to the homes of influential people and chat about their career, their home and what motivates or inspires them. Another great podcast to listen to during a morning commute!
Book(s) of the week
I’ve recently got back into my reading-grove and read Dolly Alderton’s Everything I know about love in a matter of days. It’s a truly brilliant read – whether you are in love, going through a break up, single or just starting to date someone. It made me laugh, cry, reflect and then laugh some more. Hugely relatable and most of all, an honest account of what it is to date, to fall in and out of love and how life is and changes in your teens, twenties and then early thirties. Best read of the year so far.
I haven’t finished this next book yet, but at the speed I’m going through it, I thought it was worth a mention. It’s called She Must Be Mad by Charly Cox and it’s actually a collection of poems she’s written. It’s current, funny and again, very honest. Definitely worth picking up!
Don’t miss out on
- The Anna Edit’s post Want Your Side Hustle To Take Off?. Fellow bloggers or anyone who has a small business on the side, this is a brilliant, hugely insightful read.
