Just over an hour south of Edinburgh, across the border is the sleepy, coastal town of Alnmouth. With its own train station, it’s highly accessible from both London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley and is just a stone’s throw away from other beautiful towns such an Alnwick and Warkworth.
Alnwick is one of those places that is a home away from home. Admittedly, it is partly the people that make this place so special for me, but I do think it is a lovely place to escape to, whether you have an emotional connection to this area or not. There are so many things to do and see here, from fantastic beach walks, to tasty brunches (have a read of my food-y picks here) to bookshop browsing- there is something for everyone.
Just south of the Scottish border is the very beautiful county of Northumberland. It is the northernmost part of England and is home to the quaint town of Alnwick. For a fairly small town there are so many lovely things to do and see here, especially in the summer months.
